Climbing Route Maintenance

Thomas Gilmore

During January and February 2020, a group of volunteer climbers installed more than a hundred bolts (plates) on multiple climbing walls in the valley, most of them intended to replace plates and bolts in poor condition. Worn tubular ropes, cords and webbing were also replaced.

During January and February 2020, a group of volunteer climbers installed more than a hundred bolts (plates) on multiple climbing walls in the valley, most of them intended to replace plates and bolts in poor condition. Ropes, cords and tubular tapes worn by time were also changed and material was added in exposed sections, potentially very dangerous, in order to avoid accidents.

A project carried out with the support of the OVC. We are grateful to Thomas Gilmore who organized the initiative and dedicated many days of his vacation to this work. Also to Nicolás Rivas, Vianney Lhoumeau, Inti Mellado, Daniel Seeliger, Daniel Pastene and Trevor Boley. Thank you for the bolts donated by Cooper Varney and Refugio Cochamó / Camping La Junta
